LANEWAY HOUSE 3

This design for a 400m2 laneway site in North Perth had it’s work cut out for it. A narrow site with the block addressing east and west also has a 3m wide sewer easement down the length of the block which limited the footprint of the house.

These constraints led to a slender 3 storey house 3 bedroom house of timber construction including timber structural frame and floor, the south facing gallery cantilevering the over the sewer easement for Water Corp access. A second story studio and roof deck provide a work from home space with city views.

The result is an efficient linear house with a low carbon footprint. Glass sliding doors connect the gallery and living space with strip gardens along the north and south providing vistas to green garden on 3 sides. The gallery deck looks out onto an elevated linear pond, adding to the tranquillity of the space.
